We are looking for a talented DevOps Engineer who can own and shape our infrastructure, tooling, and automation as we scale. You’ll be joining early and will have the opportunity to set the foundation for everything from how we run infrastructure, to how we handle reliability, releases, and compliance automation.

Who is Adfin?

We were founded in April 2024 by an A-class team that has already built multi-billion businesses in banking and payments, and are backed by the best tech investors in Europe (Index Ventures, Visionaries Club, and some very successful fintech CEOs and founders). Our early performance has been strong and so the team is starting to expand.

What’s the problem we are solving?

Getting paid is time consuming and expensive for both businesses and payers.
Businesses deal with late and unpaid invoices, as payers have no incentives to pay quickly. Chasing late payments and failed direct debits is expensive, while any sort of adjustments, like payment plans, late fees, discounts, require significant manual effort for the business.

At the same time, businesses are paying Ecommerce card prices for low risk payments, while struggling to get adoption on lower cost payment methods. And any attempt to reduce cost of getting paid involves configuring and managing multiple vendors and overly-complicated, often impossible reconciliation processes.

Where are we heading?

It’s not just getting paid that’s hard. Making payments, managing cashflow, and keeping on top of bank accounts, accounting, and reporting are all time-consuming and expensive. We will harness the generational shift in capability AI offers to streamline all financial operations for businesses.

What are we looking for?

Architect and own our AWS infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, resilient, and scalable

Automate infrastructure provisioning and operations

Define and implement robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes

Build and manage our CI/CD pipelines and release automation

Own infrastructure and tooling requirements for our Electronic Money License and ISO27001/SOC2 certifications — and make sure they don’t slow us down

Monitor and optimise cloud costs to ensure efficient usage

Collaborate closely with engineers and product to move fast, safely

Conduct pentests, security initiatives

Ensure we use the best and most secure equipment and tooling

Who are we looking for?

In short, someone that likes to get hands dirty on everything related to automation, infrastructure and efficiency

Our team is our superpower and we hire only the very best. There is no perfect profile, but from our experience, you are likely to have:

4+ years experience in a DevOps or SRE role, in a fast-paced product company
End-to-end ownership. Ability to thrive on a high level of ambiguity, autonomy and responsibility. At Adfin we believe strongly in full ownership, from ideation, development, full, testing, releases and operations
Strong experience with AWS architecture and services
Solid knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows (e.g., GitLab)
Familiarity with modern observability tooling (Datadog etc.)
A passion for automation and a “you build it, you run it” mindset
Bonus: Experience working with security frameworks like ISO27001, or in regulated environments

What is the hiring process?

We try and move fast with hiring whilst giving you and us the chance to make a proper assessment:
- Initial intros to ensure this is right on both sides (30 mins)
- Technical interview (2 x 45 mins), hands on coding on frontend and problem solving in your favourite IDE/environment
- Final board interview (30 mins)
- References check on both end - we reference you, you reference us

What will an offer look like?

Competitive salary: we pay what it takes to get the best people, but of course at first you can probably earn more in a corporate (but learn 5% as much!).
Equity: everyone at Adfin has meaningful equity, and on terms which are generally more favourable than most startups, which we can discuss with you.
Office: we value face-to-face collaboration. We are flexible but if not travelling, try to spend a portion (1-2 days) of our time in the office at Aria (near Palas Campus)
